VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America)

Rural Resources contacted us about the possibility of having a Volunteer in Service to America (VISTA) to host through NCPR. The possibilities started exciting us. We settled on a Fire Safety/Rural Signage project. Ed Nichols applied for the position and was accepted.

A flyer to get the information out to the community. The importance of addresses visible in our rural area is the difference between living and dying. Seconds count when the EMS or Fire Department is looking for your home.

Goal Statement – This signage program will save lives of people that do not have sprinkler systems or fire hydrants out front, it will bring the help they need faster. This area of service can be categorized as one of the 10 poorest communities in Washington State and when choices between food for your family is compared to smoke alarms/fire extinguishers, etc. food will win. People live in hopes that nothing will happen that would require safety vehicles, but it does. And although this project will not prevent all emergencies, it will get help to them in a timely manner that can save lives. This project is focused on EMS/Fire Safety education and identification of addresses.

Some of the benefits of the sign!
Helps: Emergency crews navigate to the scene faster day or night, rain or shine
Helps: UPS/FED EX delivery drivers
Helps: Friends and family locate your home
Helps: Reduce situational poverty by eliminating loss of life or Home
Makes: Perfect Holiday/House Warming Gifts

All signs are Aluminum 24” X 6” with 4” white numbers on a blue reflective background.

We are asking for a minimum donation of $20.00 to help with the cost of manufacturing the signs.
